Is Meditation Really Worth Doing?
List your excuses… I’m sure we can all come up with dozens to convince us that we can’t make time to meditate. I get it, I’m busy too – and frankly, nearly everything seems more important than sitting and doing nothing… but are we really “doing nothing” when we meditate? What we discover after really committing to a personal meditation practice is that what you “do” during meditation can be one of the most important things you do in a day. We discover that with just 10 – 20 minutes of quiet meditation, nearly EVERYTHING else you do in a day is changed dramatically… and for the better! …and meditation can be done sitting, lying down, or even moving since Qigong is a type of “moving meditation.”
Whether it is gaining focus or calming your nerves, those precious moments of meditation spill over onto everything you do afterwards. The more you practice, the more this makes sense. In ancient Chinese Taoism we have a term: “Wu Wei” which translates to “no outside force.” This means that you can live your life in a much gentler, inward-guided way. Ahh… now that sounds pretty good in a world that seems to be going insane… and if you feel you would like some guidance, check out my Guided Meditations which let you just close your eyes and go in an inner journey. Meditation has many pathways. Enjoy!
